how to copy text from phpldapadmin to debian cli?
sudo does not work over TLS. I am using ubuntu-16.04 as my ldap server & client. Sudo for ldap users was working fine until i configured TLS. After TLS was configured when i login with my ldap suer i can login in the client but then when i do 'sudo su' it prompt for the password again & again & following found in /var/log/auth.log: Jul 13 21:38:17 ip-10-125-1-191 sshd[20054]: nss-ldap: do_open: do_start_tls failed:stat=-1 Jul 13 21:38:17 ip-10-125-1-191 sshd[20054]: nss_ldap: reconnected to LDAP server ldap://10.125.1.145 Jul 13 21:38:17 ip-10-125-1-191 sshd[20054]: pam_unix(sshd:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=ssh ruser= rhost=10.125.1.191 user=support Jul 13 21:38:17 ip-10-125-1-191 sshd[20054]: pam_ldap: could not open secret file /etc/ldap.secret (No such file or directory) Jul 13 21:38:17 ip-10-125-1-191 sshd[20052]: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for support from 10.125.1.191 port 46090 ssh2 Jul 13 21:38:17 ip-10-125-1-191 sshd[20052]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user support by (uid=0) Jul 13 21:38:17 ip-10-125-1-191 sshd[20052]: pam_systemd(sshd:session): Failed to create session: No such file or directory Jul 13 21:38:36 ip-10-125-1-191 sudo: nss_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server... Jul 13 21:38:37 ip-10-125-1-191 sudo: nss_ldap: could not search LDAP server - Server is unavailable I have tested my TLS works fine. I followed this links to configure TLS: www.server-world.info/en/note?os=Ubuntu_16.04&p=ssl www.server-world.info/en/note?os=Ubuntu_16.04&p=openldap&f=4 I have searched google & few link says it's a bug. However i am not quite sure about it. I request for your suggestion. It will be great if you can help me on this.

ubuntu version ?????
Great helpful intro, thanks!
Hi I have installed LDAP on a VM instance whose IP is 104.197.115.211/phpldapadmin the configuration looks like this BASE dc=ldapserver,dc=com URI ldap://104.197.115.211 but when I hit the URL from remote system it says "This webpage is not available" what could be the problem?
Check three things: 1. Try pinging the VM from host 2. Check whether your webserver is running 3. Check the network adapter of the VM. If it's a bridge connection then change the Promiscuous Mode to Allow all.
Thanks Bowen, helpful.
what is vmnet2 in command ssh joe@vmnet2 i tried to do user@ipaddress and it gives connection refused error ... can you tell me why?
This video is missing some major changes and configuration for openLDAP, I wouldn't even use it.
Some one suggested me to use LDAP on my freenas box to allow access to it by multiple users. The thing is that I need to integrate this on a zfs file system. Have you ever done any thing similar?
The fact that you have to TELL zenoss if the device is a server or a printer, proves how immature this software is. Not to mention how it manages to ignore root directives, like starting itself, and demands you issue them instead as the Zenoss user is a hassle.
Can we do this with Windows Active Directory and OpenLdap? Can we authenticate in windows, users that exist in openldap?
Great vid mate!
Very nice. I'm wondering how to set this up for websites hosted on google appengine (with a custom domain) so they will be visible from China. If you freelance let me know :)
hello ! how to LDAP filter #zimbra
Just to say thanks. It was really helpful
thanks for the tutorial. I am still confuse about setting one. I have 3 servers with public IP address. Server A is the content server and I intend to use Server B as the proxy server. My question here is under the configuration file, what should be server_name and proxy_pass ? Should proxy_pass = Server B or A or should server_name = Server A or B ? Please clarify my confusion.
Bowen Denning Thanks ! I finally got it working with your tutorial. Just one more to go please.... How do I have it working with SSL for multiple sites ?
hi how to make gui authentication authorization when doing a black screen with the cursor x and nothing else thank you
Try editing /etc/phpldapadmin/config.php: change the information on lines: "$servers->setValue('server','host',''x.x.x.x);" "$servers->setValue('server','base',array('dc=xxxxxxx'));" "$servers->setValue('login','bind_id','cn=admin,dc=xxxxxx');" Uncomment and change from false to true: "$config->custom->appearance['hide_template_warning'] = true;" After that you should be able to log in phpldap admin
nice video
i get the same, even after using the correct password that was entered while installation
